In this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, explore sandy beaches, soft dunes and undulating cliffs all at your easiest convenience or head for one of Norfolk’s popular seaside towns, like Cromer, Blakeney, or Sheringham, in less than an hour.
PEACE AND TRANQUILITY
The village itself has a variety of green spaces just a short distance from your new home. From the well tended village green, family friendly Gooseberry Hill Play Area – with its newly installed ability swing, to the bountiful allotments.
Swanton Morley also boasts three commons, Mill, Burgh and Little Common, each with their own unique traits. Mill Common is classed as a wild meadow and is home from May – October to a small number of grazing Heifers.
Burgh Common is a popular spot for fishing. Spacious boardwalks have been fitted along the river bank to give greater accessibility to those less able to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the area.
The surrounding banks of the River Wensum are a popular spot in the summer for picnics, or if you’re feeling brave, wild swimming. Known locally as ‘The Falls’ or Swanton Morley Waterfalls, taking care to avoid the weir, it’s possible to swim around an old mill pond and under the three arch bridge into the small weir pool. If swimming isn’t for you, the river is a lovely stretch for kayaking or taking a carefree swing on the rope swing suspended above the water.
